Work is progressing well despite the wind and rain. The waiting rooms are nearly ready for painting having had their windows and doors repaired and / or replaced. The eastern platform has now had its undercoat in southern railways covers completed, ready for the top coats of colours Buckingham Green and Bamboo. Restoration of the Signal Box continues with re-pointing nearly complete. Jim Loe along with volunteers from the Isle of Wigth Steam railway have very kindly volunteered to clear the undergrowth which lies along the length and east of the platform in the new year. South West Trains have agreed to repair the canopy on the western platform and John Martin builders will be carrying out this work in the near future. .jpg)

The photos show the Signal Box before work began, a new access to enable materials to be taken across the track safely, one of the two waiting rooms open after main years of being boarded up, Signal Box with scaffolding ready for external repairs to be carried out, the new stairs to the Box and work beginning on the waiting rooms. |
