Government figures published today for the percentage of pupils making expected progress from 11 - 16 years in English and Maths shows the Island's performance the worst but one of the 19 local authorities in the South East region. And the gap between the Island's rates and the average for the region has increased over the years covered by the published table: 2006 - 2009. Only Portsmouth's school's perform worse than the Island in our region and both are being left further behind as the region's average levels have increased year on year.
